We got up and took our time packing up and getting ready thia morning. Took another shower and then watched "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" while finishing off the 1.5 quarts of ice cream we had each bought yesterday. We left the hotel (having never gotten to use the pool - this is the first open pool at a hotel in three tries on this trail and we didn't even get in...the allure of ice cream and TV is too strong apparently...). We caught the bus and arrived at the hostel to check in. Frank had booked 10 rooms for a group of us to stay there, so she checked us in.
Frank and I chatted with a few people here before walking over to do some grocery shopping. Frank got distracted by some of the shopping options and we got slightly off course, but also went to an outfitter and picked up some needed items for the next section. After getting groceries (and too many of them - don't resupply while hungry), we went to a pizza place where we met Jedi, J-PRO, and a Tahoe Rim Trail hiker named Katie. I got the best pizza I've had on trail and absolutely demolished it. Spinach, mushrooms, and garlic on a white sauce. Absolutely fantastic! It was here that I had some chocolate milk that I bought at the grocery store. It was very good and I definitely see the hype.
We went back to the hostel and ran into Lost and Found who I last saw exactly 900 miles ago, right before the descent down San Jacinto. We caught up and also chatted with Magnet and Narrator. We got settled in our rooms and I sorted out my resupply (TOO MUCH FOOD!).
About 5:30, Magnet, her friend Jack (who is meeting her here for a few days), Narrator, Frank, Jedi, JPRO, Flavortown, and I went to dinner at a local Mexican restaurant. After stuffing myself, we came back and chatted with Mama, AB, and Chaparral before turning in at the relatively early town time of 10:30. Sharing a room with Frank, Chaparral, and J-PRO tonight.
Glad you’re getting your veggies and ice cream! Looks like a fun place!
