Laddie and Skye woke us up about 6 am and we packed up all of the camping gear we would need and loaded the car. We set off about 9:30 and after navigating the streets of Portland, we drove into Washington which meant that I'd now been to all of the lower 48 states. We drove for a bit and then stopped for gas. Frank and I went to the Taco Bell nearby and tried to go in, but the dining room was closed. We then tried to walk through the drive thru, but there was a notice that they were out of a bunch of ingredients, so we walked over to Wal-Mart and got some food there. After a successful shopping trip, we continued northward through Olympia, Tacoma, and Seattle, hitting sporadic traffic along the way.
A little ways north of Seattle, we stopped at another Wal-Mart and bought everything we'd need for the trip. We loaded up the car and made a couple more stops: one at the liquor store and one at a general store to get a recreation pass for the area. Finally, about mid-afternoon, we arrived at our campground along the South Fork of the Stillaguamish River.
We set up camp and got acquainted with the area. A little while later, Frank's friends Pete, Katie, and their dog Radar arrived. We caught up with them, made dinner, and hung out chatting until well after dark.
Beautiful area! I’m intrigued by all the unusual (to my ears) names in that area. All lower 48 - I don’t know anyone who’s done that! Quite a feat!
ReplyDeleteWow another milestone! All lower 48 - that's amazing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice campsite! Was the drive through Washington pretty? I love road trips through new states.
ReplyDeleteThe drive was smoky, but would have been better without the smoke.
