Day 108 - Friday, August 13

Glamping at the Boardman Group Campground in Northern Washington (left PCT at mile 1847.8). A zero day.

We got up slowly this morning, ate breakfast, and generally lounged about. I saw my first banana slug which are apparently common in the Pacific Northwest.
It was a bit chilly and I had on my puffy to stay warm. Well apparently Radar had a thing for puffy jackets and he jumped up, tearing two holes in it. That was a little frustrating, especially since with my loss of body fat, I really rely on that to stay warm. Hopefully Kaurine (who is apparently good at sewing) will be able to fix it.

Later in the morning (after it had warmed up), everyone went down to the water to relax and swim and I put my new innertube to use and did a float from the most upstream campsite in our campground to the most downstream site where everyone was hanging out. For being only a few hundred yards, it took quite a bit of time to get down there as the current was very slow through this area. We swam in the river some and skipped rocks.

We ate lunch and throughout the afternoon and evening, more of Frank's friends showed up: Gee, Jamie, Tiffany, Robert, Kem, Jen, and James. Gee and Jamie stayed for a few hours, but Jamie is doing a triathlon tomorrow, so they'll come back after that. Jen and James brought a propane fire pit, so we all hung around that while chatting well into the night.

  1. Well, Skye is clever - good camouflage! A banana slug-knew it was a college team mascot but had to look it up (UC-Santa Cruz). Glad you had a relaxing time with Frank’s friends.
